Get a live-in nanny for short-term. |
Same (but not pregnant). We’re getting a nanny when this is over and not returning to daycare. |
If You're ok with letting the spot go, then give your notice.
Staff aren't getting paid then but there is only so much you can do. |
LOL. You are aware that everyone doesn't have the space to just house a live in nanny right? I'm in a 1,200 sq/ft house with 2 infants and we both have to work FT jobs still with no daycare. |
+1 Especially if she hires an assistant she's still paying. My daycare center offered 30% discount. It's a place with long waitlist. I'm not risking losing the spot. |
Plus didn't you pay a month deposit when you first enrolled your child? And have a 30 day notice requirement? Ours does. |
For profit center? Nonprofit center? In home? |
What everyone is forgetting is that the centers do not need to pay the employer's share of health insurance for laid off employees. The employer might have to offer the option of continued insurance, but will offer it at the non-subsidized cost. If the employee has a chronic condition and needs continued coverage, the employee's health insurance costs will shoot up. . |
I interviewed last night with a family who has two infants, a toddler and a preschooler. I’d share the room with the infants, toddler and preschooler have their room, parents have theirs. I’ve also interviewed with a family in a one bedroom apartment, and they’d decided that the baby and nanny would take the bedroom while they take the living room. It’s not a perfect scenario for anyone, but when needs must... |
We are continuing to pay as long as we can afford it. Our daycare center is a nonprofit and doesn’t have the kind of reserves of a Kindercare. Our providers are like family and we want to see them taken care of. This is your chance to put your money where your mouth is wrt paid leave people. Step up and take care of the people who take care of your babies. |
Our teachers are getting full pay and we parents don't have to pay anything. It is a relief. |
How. Is. That. Possible. |
It’s not possible. They might have enough to pay the classroom teachers for up to a month, but it won’t continue indefinitely, and there’s no way they’re paying the aides too. |
Absolutely not possible. You are not getting the whole story, PP. |
+3. We withdrew from daycare (who demanded we keep paying although closed or lose our spot). I started looking at nannies. Hopefully we can get a couple good candidates lined up after phone interviews to meet with when this is over. |
