| they are all similar in cost. if you are choosing a club by trying save $400. you probably should save the $2500 and stay in rec. my advice is you choose the club that fits your player the best. not to trip out over $400 for the long term travel experience. |

I would look at SYA, their 07s are really good. I should know, I asked the same question last year and switched clubs to SYA. Couldn't be happier. Coach is great with the players and when we tried out the coach said they did possession style of play, in my mind everyone says that. After a full fall season, they really do focus on the build up. All boys are pushed to master the first touch and their is constant moving of players without the ball.
I'm bragging only because this was 180 from our previous club. Hope to see you soon. Coach is Jon Silva. |
We have seen similar focus and improvement in younger SYA Red team (now U11). Glad to see coaches are not afraid to challenge younger kids to play intelligently and bravely. It does not need to be the exclusive method, but it certainly seems worth trying with more talented kids. |

Just a few results from these teams mentioned above from this weekend. Some are great results. Some not so good. The kids are young. Anything can happen. I'm not saying that those that won are the best and those that lost suck. It's just a snap shot of what happened this weekend.
McLean Tournament GFR = Champions of Top division Beat Loudoun Red in the final. McLean ECNL = lost to Loudoun Red in the Semi Final Barca= Did not make final of 2nd Division McLean. Played in Consolation Game. Jefferson Cup-I don't understand all the divisions. I'm really not sure how it was tiered. Seems like there were some mega-division so me of these teams below could be in the same overall division, so just reading down the page... BRYC ECNL lost 2 and tied 1. scored 1 goal. No final. SYA Finalist VSA - 2 wins one tie No final. Loudoun ECNL - 2 wins one loss No Final Sterling - Champion Not sure if Herndon played this past weekend. |
Jeff cup is a good gage for this area being that it puts you up against top talent from across the country. Kudos to all the teams that made the cut and especially ones that got far in the tournament. Outcomes seems consistent with what others have been saying about the local teams. |
Overall for local teams in the Jeff Cup, teams seemed to be placed in divisions based on the leagues (EDP, CCL, NCSL) that they play in. For instance SYC, who plays in EDP, played in the top division; Lee-Mount Vernon and SYA, who play in the CCL I, were in the mid-divisions; BAC, Premier, and Sterling, who are all in the NCSL, were all in the lower divisions. |
I agree. I was surprised they didn't didn't give Loudoun ECNL much love on their division placement. I think they placed them perfectly based on their results, but in setting up the divisions, they weren't even placed as high as BRYC ECNL. |
| There was a U13B team in the top flight of the McLean tournament called something DCXI. I believe their jerseys said Jouons. Anyone know where they were from? Thanks. |
Loudoun use to be a power house, but it's not the case anymore. They are still a machine, but have to fight with a lot of other clubs for talent. |
