I highly recommend going to Labyrinth Games in Eastern Market. They have a huge selection, and the staff are super knowledgeable. They host kids game nights, and many have kids themselves, so they can speak to the games that have good overlap. |
We have friends who play Catan with younger kids where everyone plays with their hands showing. It makes things move a bit more quickly and evens out the playing field a bit. You can also play to smaller victory points or until someone builds 2 cities. I think the "problem" with some of the strategy based games is that they can take too long to play. My 7 year old grasps the rules and some of the strategies pretty well but he doesn't have the patience to play a 90 minute game. |
