Irish twins/two under two

Um, you can't have 2 kids under the age of 12 months old if both were born of you. Um, if you get pregnant the DAY you come home from the hospital, and it takes 9 months for 2nd baby to develop and be born, the FIRST baby is 18 months of age when 2nd baby is born. And most people don't conceive the DAY they come home from the hospital, LOL, but a month or so later. And, um, you can't get pregnant BEFORE the 1st baby is born, biology doesn't work that way. Of course, you can have a 1st baby born at 7 months and get pregnant fairly immediately.

So Irish Twins is 2 close in age, with the oldest being somewhere in the 1 year old department - 18 mos, 19 months, 17 months if the 2nd was a little early, etc.

so OP is right - Irish Twins, oldest is 15 months of age at baby's birth.

Uh, what are you talking about?? You math, or understanding of basic human reproduction, is WAY off.

Check your math. 9+0 does not equal 18.

And while unusual, it is absolutely possible to have children less than 12 months apart. One "famous" example of this is Michelle Duggar, whose youngest two children are less than a year apart (one was born significantly premature.)

I've met other women who had babies less than a year apart. My husband is less than 13 months younger than is older brother--so they are NOT Irish twins, but if my husband had been born a few weeks early, they would have been.

Truly so glad I made it through a few pages to get to this. Laughing so hard over here.

Again, I meant people with Irish Twins up to 24 months apart. Good lord the pedants!

I’m not trying to beat a dead horse, but it’s not just pedantic. Why keep saying this is a thing? It’s not.

No. I am an Irish twin. Older born at end of Feb. Younger born following year at beginning of Feb. It happens. That is an Irish twin. If they are 12 months, 1 day apart, not an Irish twin.

Isn’t “um” a filler while people are talking aloud? I mean, um, it’s not actually written. But it does add to the awesomeness of this post.

Our first two were 16 months apart and #3 about 2 years later. We were certainly busy but it was fine.

Not only is Irish twins possible, this woman had two sets of twins in 2019! In March and again in December. Amazing.

I'm Irish and an Irish twin (sibling born, yes to my own biological mother, miraculously in some minds, 11 months and 2 weeks after I was born). This is the most awesome thread I've seen in I don't know how long.
