First teacher couldn’t handle the class, it was out of control, next teacher went off on the class and threatened them son in came a third teacher managed to get through the rest of the year. The next year, same thing happened in Spanish. Had two teachers that year. But it was bad luck, the first teacher left for health reasons so it was a long term sub.

Right in the middle of the pandemic we lost our grade’s vice principal who was awesome and then shortly after our Principal who was also great. I know nothing about the new admin. Never met them and they have no presence. The unexpected departure of our excellent VP and Principal in the middle of the pandemic made the school feel soulless and rudderless. There is an interim Principal in place.

Revolving door of teachers in other departments too. But the counselors are amazing and have been the bright spot of the school. They love and care about the kids.

Silver Creek has had this issue for a while. There are prior threads. Look them up.

SCMS has only been around for four years, so there can’t be too much history. And this is an old thread.

Have you seen the other thread in which the teacher detailed she is leaving for other career options? This can be expected.

The solution mcps schools and mcea fired all the new teachers like they were the cause. Before they were fired the admins made sure they got their way in that they made those teacher be liberal with the grade inflation policies.
Teache s are used and abused in today's education

SCMS parent here and we encountered this last year when 3 of my DC's teachers left mid year for a variety of reasons. This year, it's been fine so far. I'm a teacher in a different district and my school in particular has very little turnover, but the district as a whole has similar problems. As far as Admin, the former SCMS principal had put in her close to 25+ years in the district and retired, and the AP left for her own personal reasons to another MCPS MS...so don't listen to trolls. I would be patient, but if the sub is really poor I suggest reaching out to your PTSA grade level parent rep, current admin, etc. to see what the staffing plan is or to get additional instructional support from the department chair. This should be relatively easy to share staff resources across the mymcps platform.
