This is OP. Thanks for the store recommendations. Grandparents are choosing color scheme and financially underwriting the clothing purchases to expedite things/acknowledge that it's a pain in the butt to get everyone to play along. I am grateful for the STORE options - that will help us figure out how much money would make sense and what the choices would be. I don't have a horse in the race about purchasing the clothing, or controlling what people wear. I am in DC, don't have kids, live the closest to my parents, and am the auntie who coordinates all the fun stuff for family gatherings. I am trying to do anything possible to take things off the to-do lists of the mothers of the aforementioned eight children under age 6, who already traveling with the kids to the DC area from all over the country to attend the party, take the portrait, and participate in the whole shebang. Cheers and happy shopping |
Also agree and check out: Mayoral, Little English, Petit Peony, Nantucket Kids, Busy Bees, and maybe even Crewcuts. |
Why don't you ask the parents what they like to dress their kids in? I wouldn't buy from most of the stores mentioned. Or, just let them take care of it and pick a few colors. |
If you really want them all to match, then try clothes from Primary.com - the tutu dresses would be great for the girls, and the boys can wear pants and polos. |
Primary does NOT sell formal wear. ![]() |
They sell solid colored dresses and collared shirts. The kids are, well, kids. They'll look plenty formal and unfussy and united for the photo. |
Someone else suggested Janie & Jack - that's been my favorite for fancy wear for my kids - looks nice enough for grandma to gush, but machine washable and not usually scratchy or uncomfortable. They have suggestions for coordinated kid outfits here! https://www.janieandjack.com/family-moment?lang=en_US
Agreed though - maybe do some Pintrist suggestions that everyone can see, with the color scheme and a pic of the grandparents outfits, so people can pick things out for the kids on their own. My sister-in-law did this once - blue and white - and it worked out well enough. One SIL refused to buy a dress so wore a cream and red-flowered dress, her daughter had red shoes on and my daughter insisted on wearing a red headband - so... it actually looked nice in the end ![]() |
Oh - and H&M usually has great dressy clothes for kids. Also machine washable, but less expensive. Suits for boys (can always do shorts with the blazer) or a vest and tie. |
Those are some cute outfits at Janie and Jack if the budget allows and the color palette matches the grandma's outfit |
