| I saw on PBS instagram that there are no plans currently for season 2. |
| Lol I tried it because of this thread and oh my lord I think I just witnessed a handy in a Jane Austen PBS show I don’t know if I can go on. |
| I’m disappointed there will not be a season 2. Agree with everyone that there were many flaws. But, I never knew that Austen had penned a black female character, wish she had been able to develop her more. I think it was a missed opportunity in the series to follow this interesting story. I seriously doubt her hand would have been sought after as they showed, no matter how wealthy she was.woukd have really liked to see her story developed. |
That’s based on the UK viewing numbers. Apparently due to reception in the US they are considering it! |
Just wait til the drawing room floor scene ? |
| I feel like it’s impossible for a show with an incest storyline to be fun. Icky. |
|
Just finished the episode with the dancing. Theo James -that guy knows how to look at a woman!
Also PP- it’s not really incest-they are connected only by their parents second marriages. Grew up in the same house but not related. |
They aren’t genetically related. |
Still gross. Yuck. |
Well yeah- it’s not presented as socially acceptable. |
They’re kinda the bad guys |
I just prefer my Austen tv to be frothier, I guess. Mostly this isn’t working for me because I hate the main “romance.” I think he’s a jerk and she’s a child. |
Okay, I watched the first episode based on this thread. Now I feel compelled to keep watching. |
I think she’s super cute, but A. I could do without all the squinting, and B. would decent women of marriageable age really have been running around with fully uncontained hair at that time in England? Even during social engagements? |
Well the one time her hair was “done” it looked truly awful so I prefer the wild look. I thought it was meant to demonstrate her lack of wealth. |
