Moving to Basis from dual language school

OP, if you're still reading, it's worth remembering that Basis is an AZ franchise. This means that the only language they have deep experience teaching is Spanish. If you're coming out of Spanish immersion, you'll be OK at BASIS, with the 2 years of mandatory Latin in 5th and 6th grades dovetailing with Spanish, or French if you're coming from Stokes. If you will be leaving YY, you're going to have to work hard to keep up the Mandarin. I'd go with weekend classes in MoCo at Hope College or another program. Once your kid reaches 7th grade, they'll push a new language on you, or require your kid to enroll in beginning Chinese classes. From what we experienced, their commitment to teaching languages other than Spanish is weak.

Spanish sucks at BDC. They can’t retain Spanish teachers. None of the foreign language tracks are really strong but at least Chinese and Latin have some stability.

DO NOT choose BASIS because of how they teach foreign language. It isn’t their thing. But there are other things they do quite well.
