Was I over- helicoptery yesterday?

I’d actually have- gasp- PREFERRED to watch my adorable pre-K aged kid ToT than drink wine with a neighbor. They are so adorable in their little costumes going door to door and are only young like that once

+1 It's Halloween. Have fun with the kids!

As everyone else has said, you were NOT wrong.

Also, it's incredibly unfair to a 9-year-old to put them "in charge" of two small kids.

I’m with you. Too young. I have similar neighbors. They let their 3 and 5 year old kids run around the neighborhood alone regularly. They show up at my door to play with my kids....have to cross two streets and walk past about 10 houses to get to my house. My kids are 3 and 7 and I do not let them do that. I know I’m on the helicoptery side of parenting but there are too many craz y people in this world. if my kids are outside playing, I’m outside at least doing some yard work so i can keep an eye on them. And TOT...like someone else said, kids are literally running from house to house. Recipe for an accident.

Kidnapping is not a real risk. But a tragic car accident is - my kids are nearly 7 and 5 and it was like they had never heard of cars when we were out! Just too excited to stop and look.

You were right.

I’m pretty free range and I wouldn’t have been cool with that either. 4 and 5??

Me too. When my kids were that age we would walk around the neighborhood with friends AND our wine. Win win
