What are your feelings on leaving a club after the Fall Season? U13 and Under

Under u13? What the f does it matter. The club can make corrections next year. If the club is cutting or demoting a u9, u10, u11 or u12 player mid season leave the club. Under u13 winning losing does not matter. They are not playing soccer yet. Get to the big field at u13 and lots of stuff changes. Now you start playing soccer and a lot of the u -little stars fad. Ask a parent of an older kid who has been through.

What type of players typically fade? I have a U12G so I’m curious if she will fade.

The players who star at younger ages because they are developmentally ahead of their peers and therefore stronger/faster/etc. tend to fade after puberty when that growth curve levels out and the other players catch up physically. They are often allowed to rely on strictly their physical advantages up to that point and when those advantages no longer exist they get frustrated and quit. The kids who were always smaller and slower and forced to develop other skills to survive often go from worst to first after that age.

I would say speed and ball control are most important at U13. Slower kids are fine on the small field but fade quickly when they move to 11v11. Plus, the U13 and above game is more physical than at earlier ages. I only have boys so not sure about girls. Speed is probably still important for girls but they may not be as physical at U13+.

DA is a different animal than regular travel soccer. DA rosters constantly evolve and the players and parents accept that. For regular travel leagues I would tough it out until the end of the season.

Do DA team drop players when they found better ones? Or weaker players still just practice for the season but with little game time?

I’ve seen DA teams do both. They’ve dropped kids at Christmas time as well as let weaker players finish out the year by practicing with the DA team and getting little playing time. DA Is cutthroat and they are always looking for the next great player.
