Maryland Renaissance Fair--worth the cost?

We went yesterday and it was SO fun and extremely well organized. The crowds are large but somehow none of the lines were long. Nothing there is very expensive. Food is all in the 4-7 dollar range; the slides are $1 per ride; all the games are a dollar or two and you get several chances (eg, 7 foam darts to use in your crossbow).

Parking was a breeze, as was getting out of the lot at the end of the day. There are people guiding parkers to the next open space, so it's easy to find a good spot. The shows are really well done and there are LOTS of them. I am not a regular; I went to one Ren Faire as a college student and just took my family for the first time this year and I was really impressed.

This post must be from an investor. This is not the case. Be prepared to sit in your car for a couple hours just to get to the parking lot. A one late road leads to the festival and is easily congested.

DP. We went yesterday. Got there at 11:20 and the was a small line, but moved quickly (and was much faster than one for our county fair). I have hear that if you arrive later (1-3) the lines can be long. Also, gets more crowded in October.

It is in a permanent place, though the bathrooms are porta-potties off in separate places (very clean yesterday), with t.o. in each and lots of sanitary wipes at the entrance to the section.

We had lot's of fun, but lots of people might not. Depends on what you are looking for (no fair rides).

We went Saturday. Drove right in and parked right around opening at 10:00. Breezed right out when we left three-four hours later. I know it gets more crowded later int he season or if you get there later, but our experience was no stress. And I was prepared for it to be awful.
