I had a low-risk first pregnancy at 31 and almost died from a severe post-partum hemorrhage after an otherwise uncomplicated vaginal birth. The things that made a difference for me were that the hospital had plenty of blood, and also access to interventional radiology on site. I think it’s likely that most of the major hospitals in DC have those things too, but I’d encourage you to keep in mind the possibility of life-threatening complications even for low-risk births. Congratulations, and good luck! |
| Can’t say enough good things about Malcolm DeSouza ( he primarily delivers at Sibley but does have access to GW for complex deliveries. His practice is so well run- no waiting on hold for 20 minutes to get a person and he is wonderful. I have had both of my babies with him and I highly highly recommend! |
100% agree. He is compassionate, understanding and supportive of you and your needs. Best doctor I have ever had. Like PP, I find his staff nice and very responsive. |
Oh I’m so glad to read this! Pregnant with my first and just made an appointment with Desouza. |
| You won’t regret it! Like the PP said he is so caring and flexible. I have recommended him to all of my friends who are expecting! |
| Delivered 2x at Sibley with Sanders and Schaffel and recommend them very highly. They do not take insurance in-network and we budgeted over multiple years to make that expense possible. They are amazing and worth the expense/sacrifice for those who can. |
Wow how much did that end up costing? And what did you feel you got for that premium? |
