Please, please call him Jupiter after birth! I couldn't convince my husband to name our twins Jupiter (boy) and Indiana (girl) as in Jupe and Indi, get to the table!. : ) |
Yeah, because everyone has read the bible

| We named my son John but call him Jack. He does not even know that his real name is John - which was named after a grandfather. |

Jonah Jones Juels Jesse Jonathan FWIW, I used to babysit a kid named John Watson Smith. His parents called him John Watson. So maybe if you went with a more traditional first name you could get creative with the middle name? |
I'm the one with the son named Jonas. He was named Jonas before the Jonas Brother's were popular. Besides, I'm sure they'll be long gone in 20 years. We picked Jonas as we were looking for a J name (husband is Jewish and he wanted to honor a relative). We were choosing between Jonah and Jonas. We went with Jonas. One of the smartest persons my husband knows is a Jonas. There's a well known Jonas in the scientific community - Jonas Salk was a medical researcher best known for discovery and development of the polio vaccine. I've actually met 2 other Jonas's since naming my son. Its also on the rise in popularity on the Social Security's names database. Its 2008 rank was 274. And yes, there is a mention of the name Jonas in a Weezer song. And yes, the information above is probably much more than you ever wanted to know about the name Jonas. |
