Thanks for the encouragement! Had to wait for someone to call me back. But ingot it sorted today!

And I ordered this suit

https://tomboyx.com/products/swim-6-unisuit-black?variant=21591035019345

I think I'll be comfortable in it!

I was able to sign up for just swim so it's only $60/month and they reassured me that I don't have to be Jewish to attend the JCC haha o was a little worried! But it's the only year around pool near me!

I've been watching YouTube and looking up beginner swim exercises and plans.

Thank you for all the encouragement.

I got back to swimming this summer because it's so hot. The first time, I got winded after one length. I took it slow, eventually doing 24 on that outing.

Now I'm up to 40, no problem and like everyone says, it feels GREAT.

The people are all shapes and sizes, and of various abilities. No one cares.

That's a very cute suit! Here's the thing -- almost EVERYONE is self-conscious in a swimsuit! So they won't be worried about you!

That’s great OP. I wear a rash guard to swim laps in my public pool. It’s no big deal. The only time I got any comments on what I am wearing or my body was when I was pregnant- then old men gave me lots of advice including that a two piece was bad for the baby (ridiculous).

I will look at some suits online. I might feel ok w rash guard and regular full coverage bottoms. It's been annoying in the past to keep fussing and pulling up the leggings and shorts or pulling down a skirt.

I'm sure once I get there I'll feel better.

Lour friends live in buildings w pools but oddly I feel way more comfortable in a swimsuit around strangers. Go figure.

Check out the website Swim Suits for All. They carry all sizes and have great prices. I know they aren't athletic swim suits per se, but I am a similar size and I find that I am very comfortable in their swim dresses, which are also comfortable to swim in. They also have all kinds of top and bottom combinations so you can get a tank top or longer shirt with shorts or a skirt, etc. Good luck!!

Do it OP! No one will care what you are wearing.
And I say this kindly, but you should re-examine your current diet because exercise alone isn’t going to cut it.

Have a wonderful time swimming OP! I will say this gently, but I will say it over and over to whoever will listen: Do not think of exercise as a way to lose weight. Use it to feel fantastic mentally and physically. Try and divorce the exercise from the weight loss and you will be much more successful if weight loss is part of your goal. I hope you feel great - start slowly and measure your progress.

Start slow. Swim a lap, rest, and repeat.

Agreed. Keep it up, it is great for you, and you will feel better. Good for you for doing it - inspiring!

I'm very self conscious in a swim suit and pretty modest. I'll wear swim leggings and a long sleeve rash guard. I need to get a new one. My excuse was always the "sun" but I wonder if it will look silly to wear that at an indoor pool? The idea of a one piece w no sleeves scares me.

I live in a very orthodox/some Hasidic community and a Muslim community. I'm neither

The pool is at the JCC so I imagine it will be fairly conservative. They have separate women and men swim times and the offer co-ed and family swim at other times

Op, I am your weight but shorter.
Wear a swimdress. Azul has big sizes and has very good overall support.

OP, if you have Hulu, watch the show Shrill. It stars Aidy Bryant from SNL. One episode of the 6-episode series is a pool party for all overweight and obese women. It is so wonderful and uplifting-- the whole series, but especially that episode. I can't tell you what a joy it was to watch! It will make you feel so positive.

Ditto. I don't need to lose weight and I exercise everyday because it feels good - the fact that it IS good is secondary.

I walked yesterday instead of swimming because it was the first nice weather in such a long time. I feel so much more refreshed from swimming. It seems to energize me instead of making me tired.

I live in FL and this is typical of what every size person would wear. Often times you’ll see long sleeves due to sun exposure. I like this one!
