- I am reading those. What I'm stuck on is that the kid is not gonna be challenged enough in a regular class.

You do not know this. You’re creating this narrative with little foundation.

-- Okay, so here is where my narrative is coming from... even aap track is not challenging enough per aap parents I spoke with...

--- Any chance for further elaboration? Open to all views here. I spoke to 5 moms. That's a small population of course...

OP- It’s time to step away from this thread. Go read a book or play a game with your kid or watch a movie. You’re obsessing about this.
School begins in just over a week. Your kid will be fine.

I’m multitasking. Kid is away.

NP here—-You’re really not getting the message. But I guess you must be one of those exhausting types that always has to keep the argument going and have the last word.

Mom#1: My child is so smart, Larla is just not being challenged.

Do you really think Mom #2 is going to reply: Oh, I am so glad that Jethro is not as smart as Larla. The class is just perfect for him.

— first, I have to admit I do have too much free time on my hands today. Outlier day.

I am getting the message too. Thanks for that. Keep asking questions because I’m genuinely and generally curious.

As for the post immediately above, these were separate conversations with separate moms.

Crowdsourcing helps. So since coming across dcum a few months ago, I’ve been reading things here too. Lots of tips, advice, different viewpoints, much larger circle of opinions, eye openers here too.

aap is not the end game of the world. That I knew before starting the thread.

I don’t want to frustrate any more people. Have a good night and great Sunday. Thx.

There are still some honest people. Sorry if your circle is like moms you described. Just wow.

What were the WISC scores? Did I miss that post!

The resolution proposed by the principal is not satisfactory and lacks rational justification.

What is the next level (and the entire ladder) of authority to help us look at it?

I really do not want to out this matter for public discussion even as I feel strongly about being discriminated.

Thanks for the advice.

I am sorry to say this but good luck with this. FCPS functions very differently than what they say and what the put out there.
Once they bite you with thirf teeth, they will not lleg you go, but make your life a hell.
Just becareful how you go about this.

You didn’t miss it. She never gave them but did say that the scores were borderline, so probably 120-130 range. it sounds like bad GBRS, the emphasis on a bad 2nd Grade teacher, borderline test scores, and a perfectly good WISC but not high enough to get into AAP. The Math and Reading tutor bit sounds a whole lot like someone who posted a thread on this in AAP during the appeals period.

OP: Ask for a CogAT retake and hope for better GBRSs with a different teacher. See what happens. Or look at a private school.

If this is a serious matter you want to get addressed, get your lawyer involved from the get go.
I am not saying go ahead and sue them, but talk to them involving your lawyer early before it is too late.

Sharing from my own experience. There were so many things I would have done differently if I had known what I know now.
