+1 even when we joke around about "complaining" about marriage in general, we do note how much we love our wives and all the idiosyncrasies they possess (which is part of what makes them attractive to us in the first place).

I thought it was an odd list too. I have lots of close male friends and have never heard a complaint about 1, 4 or 5. 2&3 for sure although like others said, complaining about wives just isn't that common of a topic. Truthfully, men rarely talk about their wives with friends, either positive or negative. Like others said, 90% of the conversation is jokes, sports and how hot the new girl in accounting is.

NP +1 I have to say that ^^PP's list of topics of conversation is unique. I've never, ever, had anything remotely close to this level of discussion with any of my fellow buddies - either in a group setting (round of golf, getting drinks/dinner) or even in a one-on-one. If any of those points were even relevant in my marriage, all of that stuff is between my wife and I.

Lol...maybe it is unique. I once sat through a twenty minute conversation of a bunch of men complaining that their wives sometimes ask them what they want for dinner (“I don’t know. Food? Hahaha.”)!
I eat lunch at work every day, and these things come up there in a group setting and in one on one private conversation with close friends and relatives. For sure, there is a lot of joking about it, but it’s still complaining.

From the snippets I've gathered, it seems like men complain in detail about their wives when they're gearing up for an affair and seeking tacit approval.

I almost never hear guys complain about their wives, even guys who end up getting divorced. If women think that men sit around complaining about their wives they are totally wrong. We may joke about dumb stuff like overspending or hitting the garage wall with a car but men don’t complain and men don’t want to hang around with complainers. If we want to be with a complainer we just go home!
