OP here... I gave each child a Gap sweatshirt and a tiny Christmas stocking with a reeces peanut butter cup and a package of Airheads (I'm not even really sure what they are myself, but I'm couldn't imagine they had that in Portugal). But sadly, I have no idea if they liked it or not -- they were so well behaved that they didn't even try to open the candy. Either that or they had no clue it was candy, they didn't speak English and they just had no interest in it when I pointed it out. But someone told me they liked the tiny stockings, though. ![]() |
Yeah!!! I think you found great gifts, OP, and I'm sure they did like it! ![]() What kind of candy are Airheads? LOL. |
I think anything from a candy store would be a hit--especially jelly beans with the millions of flavours. I grew up in Switzerland and american chocolate (with the exception of Reeses peanut butter cup) is awful. |
My cousins (from Germany) loved to buy and always asked for:
1. Jars of peanut butter 2. Chocolate chip cookies 3. Reeses peanut butter cups (woe, they always arrived smooshed) 4. Reeses pieces (do they still exist? If not, peanut M&Ms) 5. Marshmallow fluff 6. Pop Rocks (I don't know if these exist anymore, either!) And yet I can very happily live without all of this, substituting deelish European chocolates, gummy candies, and hard fruit suckers! |
