yeah, that wouldn't set a good example for my kid. i don't want her to be cruel to animals. but people should keep their pets leashed unless it's allowed like in a dog park. |

You definitely do need to teach your children how to protect themselves from animals.
Getting mauled can change your life forever. |
I agree with this, but there really isn't much a small child can do when a large dog attacks. |
True. Responsible adults need to protect small children. I never allow kids to pet unknown animals. |

| The dogs sit on peoples laps? Wow. |
Why didn't you just pay the fee to bring a small animal with you in the cabin? Your cat doesn't have to be a "support pet." |
That is what the dog owner said, but if you look at the actual pictures of the dog, it looks like a pit bull to me.

Which airlines don’t allow animals on the loose? |
Agree. Hard to see the snout but the ears look like pitbull ears. Not lab nor pointer ears |
We do that, too. It's outrageous that people seriously think it's fine to let their animal come up to us. |
Yep, and even if Fido actually really loved it, who cares. It's yet another example where being excessively liberal / "compassionate" to one segment of the population negatively affects the other(s). |
At the time, all animals traveling to/from the uk had to fly in the hold, but it was an American airline and honored the request. So I did pay a fee ($250?). It wasn’t about being cheap. When we moved there several years before, she was in good health and flew in the hold as required. I was under the impression that people would be pissed about any animal in the cabin (other than a legit service dog) whether it was a “support pet” or not. She didn’t leave the carrier on the flight, and my family had the whole row — people were spared my cat and my child. |
A few years ago my then toddler son and I were in HD. A leashes dog came up to him and at the time he was scared of dogs. He crawled up my legs in order to get away from the dog. I posted in DCUM about it and was told that I needed to train my son to get over his fear of dogs. My argument was that my human child should be able to go into a retail store and not have to worry about encountering animals. |
