In our expat days we met a fair few graduates. All worked in O&G in some capacity and were making very nice incomes and comfortable expat packages.

I would let my kid study mining engineering. It's not just coal.

Also mining engineering is a great entry into doing explosive demolition work, which is a super fun, well compensated job You get to blow stuff up for a living!

Great school in a beautiful area. Lots of different majors.

I would definitely support it. I have an uncle who is a mining engineer. He's worked in NV gold mines for 40 years. it is very different than coal mining.

I also know a prof at CSM. He does all sorts of safety technology/work that is unbelievably cool and saves lives. it is a great school.

No, Colorado State is the counterpart to VT as it’s Colorado’s land grant university. School of Mines is something different.
