Is there much difference between Wooton and Churchill?

Kinda like Sandra Bullock once said every movie I get they asked Julie Roberts and she said no.

Not everyone in Churchill has a big house. I live in a 6,000 square foot house and kids friends go from, 17,000 square feet to 1,700 square feet.

Although the 1,700 square foot crowd are divorced Moms or Dads or people with money issues.

US News and World Reports disagrees. Wootton is listed as #2 in Maryland. Churchill is #12.

Wootton consistently ranks high but the PP is correct that it is much less expensive than Churchill. Its not a super wealthy area and attracts smart people not rich people. Churchill has more general prestige because its seen as a super wealthy school while Wootton is only prestigious for its academics and marching band-though only Wootton residents feel that having a top level marching band is super cool.

Agree. This is what happened to our QO cluster ES back in the day. It has a 20% FARMs now due to the bussing.

A person can get a fine education at any MCPS school. I’d look more closely at the community. Sone schools have other problems like druggs or a lack of compassion for the less fortunate.

Wootton may look a totally different school after boundary decisions are done or it may have only a slight change. No one knows right now.

wootton is pretty close to GHS so three could easily bus students there. In fact “north Potomac” used to be Gaithersburg

New Wootton will be somewhat a combination of GHS and Wootton. Some part of Wootton may go to Crown as well.

Yeah, I think Wootton will see more changes than Churchill. Unless they decide to do something really bizarre with boundaries, I think Travilah, Dufief and Stone Mill have the biggest chance of being zoned out of Wootton. The area off Fields Road that is zoned for Wootton will almost certainly be rezoned to Crown.

It's anyone's guess what could be pulled into Wootton. Ritchie Park and/or Beall make the most sense logistically.

If you absolutely want to stay in the Wootton boundary, your best bets are going to be neighborhoods that feed into Lakewood, Fallsmead, or Cold Spring Elementary (though I could see Cold Spring being moved to Churchill to make more room at Wootton).

If we see changes like bold then Wootton will be a totally different school. Beall will add some diversity, but not a whole lot. Gaithersburg HS has low SES and BOE may decide to put that in Wootton. We also have many examples of islands getting bused to different school than neighborhood. We may see TB from RM cluster (70% FARMs) attending Wootton or Churchill and something from Churchill getting shifted to RM/Woodward.

I'm confused by previous speculative post- Travilah would go to which middle school and which high school? and what part of churchill would go to Woodward, which would open when?

They can continue going to same MS, but may get rezoned to Crown HS.

Moving a part of Churchill is challenging so I can't really think, but Churchill may see some change.

Woodward will open in 2024.
