Is SEM more than window dressing?

"DCPS offers rigorous enrichment programs for advanced and high-ability students" ... but only at a very small subset of elementary and middle schools?

Wow, I had absolutely no idea about this program! Hardy is on the list -- do they actually do this?

Two kids at a SEM school and they both enjoy it. Today, my younger kid was very excited to learn about protecting sea turtles. But I don’t think they have anywhere near the resources to make this an alternative to traditional gifted programs, for example. It seems more like extra humanities and/or science one a week, but hey that’s a plus.
