HOW MANY SCREENS CAN MY KID BREAK IN A YEAR?

Anonymous
it sounds like an impossible story unless she is doing it on purpose. any chance she does it to tick you off or get your (negative) attention? (or does she have a frienemy that is doing this to her and she hasn't connected the dots?)

OP, what are her stories about how she breaks the screen?

Wow. Not even my clumsy ADHD teen does that.

Time for no phone.

This, cheap phone. I hope you got a warranty on it. Also get a good screen protector. I’d she cannot take care of her things, stop replacing it. They need a phone, not an expensive one.

How does she break the screen that many times and not permanently damage other parts of the phone, which affects how her phone works?

Stop replacing the screens.

I'm an app developer and I currently have, umm...let me count, seven smartphones. I've owned every iPhone model and most of the Samsungs over the last five years. They are piled on my desk amongst iPads and other tablets and slip and slide around as I'm work.

But I've never broken a screen. Not once.

It is ridiculous to break six screens. It's ridiculous to break more than two over five years or so, and that's if you are clumsy.

She needs to learn to treat things better. It's time to say "pay your way if you break it again" and walk away. Let her cry it out and then maybe she'll learn.

that was in December.

It is broken again!

In the 10 year I have been using a smart phone, I have broken the screen 3 times.

How old is she?

This. Isn’t this parenting a teen 101?

Agree. The question to be asked is “why do I repeatedly buy my kid an iPhone when she’s proven time and time again she cannot care for it”

That is insane.

I am an incredibly clumsy runner. I drop my phone on asphalt almost daily. I have a sturdy case (Lifeproof) and have never ever had a shattered screen.
Do you think she is doing this on purpose?

So only the real apple screens work. I’m very gentle on my phone but the mall screens break at least once a year.

How many screens can they break?
All of them.
The consequence after 1 or 2 is to live with (or without) it

You need to find out how the screens are bring broken. Is someone breaking the screens intentionally?

You’ve absolutely handled this situation wrong from the beginning after the first broken screen. Do you not have any common sense about parenting?

How many chances are you going to give her? Because that’s your answer. You aren’t teaching her a thing
