We are visiting Charleston SC right now & drove down to Kiawah to check it out & see if we wanted to rent there over the Summer after reading this post. We weren’t allowed through the gate & were told “no touring allowed”. Guess we will rule out Kiawah.

OP here. Your loss! Kiawah is amazing. FWIW you could have said you were dining at one of the restaurants at the Sanctuary. I can’t remember if I updated or not but we ended up booking Seabrook Island (next door to Kiawah.) We are really looking forward to it.
