My labrador has a lump

Generally they are lipomas, kind of fatty deposits that are completely benign and generally don't need to be removed. But the vet will feel it and may recommend a fine needle aspiration to get some cells from it and check to make sure it's benign. I wouldn't worry too much at this point but I know it's scary feeling a lump.

Yes, our beagle had this.

OP - our beagle had the same lump behind his leg are you describe in your lab. It actually grew over the years to size the of a small orange (started out nickel size!). The vet. was concerned as it didn't restrict movement, beagle ate/acted normal, etc. Smaller lumps did pop up on his belly though. The vet. didn't want to remove it since it was so harmless.

I don't mean to be a downer, but the lump on our beagles leg got so big that it burst and started bleeding. It was difficult to stop the bleeding when it ruptured and almost impossible to get our dog to keep it from opening up the scab (constantly licking it). To make a long story short, the constant "open" wound became problematic. Bleeding all over our carpet, infection, and it seemed to become painful for our dog.

2219 poster again - I didn't see your previous post OP. I'm sorry for your loss.

I know what's like it lose a beloved pet. I still think I hear our dog's collar clink around the house...eventhough he passed away.

Your lab is with my beagle - over the Rainbow Bridge (google it if you aren't familiar with the poem).

I am very scared for my 6 year old lab. He has a very large lump on his left front leg. I t showed up immediately adfter his vet drew blood for a heartworm test and has not gone away, actually it has grown. That was November 18th 2010. He is acting fine and it does not bother him. I have also foung lumps, although very small in his armpit and behind his ear, Pretty sure they are fatty tumors. My dog has issues, he has severe separation anxiety, and has had surgery twice for eating socks (needless to say I live in Iowa and dont wear socks anymore.) I will take him to the vet soon but has anyone ever known of a situation like this? He did not have this until they drew blood, It is very localized, But OMG this dog had Parvo when he was 7 months old after being vaccinated!!! I think im cursed. He is the most loving best dog in the world, any insight would be helpful.

MY 10 YR OLD LAB HAS A SMALL LUMP JUST BEHIND HIS NECK, IT DOESN'T APPEAR TO BE WORRYING HIM AND I CAN MOVE IT FREELY. BOTH HIS PREVIOUS LUMPS WERE BENIGN, JUST FAT LUMPS, BUT I AM WORRIED WHERE IT IS, JUST AT THE BASE OF HIS SKULL. THE VET IS AWARE OF THIS. HE IS A VERY HEALTHY DOG AND HAS NO OTHER AILMENTS. WILL YOU RECOMMED THAT THIS LUMP BE REMOVED?
