I don't believe she is being intransigent. I believe Trump is throwing a temper tantrum. As with any 3-year old, you can't give in, you can only wait it out.

And, if your toddler is throwing a temper tantrum on the airplane, what do you do? Do you not try to fix the situation? There is a time and a place to stick to your guns, but securing our border is important. The barrier is only part of the ask. And, she has voted for it before.

I've been in that situation. I move my kid as far away from others as possible and keep her there until she calms down. What I don't do is give in to her demands based on a tantrum. I'm very patient and calmk and I stare down all dirty looks. My kid can't outlast me, she can't make feel embarassed and, she can never ever get what she wants during a tantrum.

This IS the time and place to stick to your guns because if you give in, even once, he will use the shutdown tactic again to get whatever else he wants. It's very predictable. It's difficult, but unyielding patience is the only way.

You can see that Pelosi has done this before either with children and with narcissists. I have also done this with narcissists. I did make a mistake with a narcissist by backing off when I should not have. It's a mistake because they view it as a sign of weakness. I learned to stop making that mistake and then I won. But it was painful right up until my victory.

Nancy, is that you? Would be thrilled if you lurked here!

Oh brother. If you have kids, they must be little angels. And you certainly never dealt with a narcissist. Thank your lucky stars and leave dealing Trump to people who get it.

The Democratic House passed a bunch of bills to reopen government. Mitch McConnell refuses to call a vote in any of these bills. McConnell adjourned the Senate and left town. What is the point of the Democrats staying when the Senate leader is missing in action?
Lin Manuel Miranda has helped to raise tens of millions for relief for Puerto Rico after it lost 3000 lives as a result of a botched and anemic federal government response to the disaster. Puerto Rico is hoping the Hamilton performance will raise money, improve island morale and rejuvenate island tourism. I am glad the Democrats went to support this effort. It would have been different if McConnell had kept the Senate open and stayed in town. Btw if the President declares a national emergency he intends to use relief funds intended for Puerto Rico and California to build a wall

So your opinion is that we shouldn’t worry about our own country because people in Africa don’t have running water?

Congratulations for not bringing us down to the level of third world countries.

Yet you are reading this thread . . . maybe you need to help get running water for people instead.

I think Drumpfs supporters and Pubs who work in the government should quit and go work in the private sector (not government contracting or DOD/related).

I mean it’s pretty easy to do. Right?

Very if you’ve got the proper skills. Years of paper pushing doesn’t tend to qualify you for much. So many government jobs are just that. If you have solid tech skills though you are good.

you do realize that even if congress gave him the 5 billion for this folly (and smart people know its a folly, drugs and criminals come through the ports), it will take at least 10 years to get the entitlements and eminent domain. there are already hundreds of border land owners who have said they will never sell their land. All that will end up in court. I am always so stunned Trump voters have no clue how basic things get built. I feel sorry for you for being so ignorant and racist.

The way to get things built is to be a liberal and get special treatment and subsidies.

Most of us live within our means but very few of us make enough money to have a year's salary saved. Also, I do not believe you. All trumpkins are liars.

So true I guess you don’t want your passport issued, your social security benefits approved, your FHA loan processed, your small business loan going through, your new drug/patent/copyright made official, your tax return processed, your organic produce certification come through, your FEMA aid packet approved, your Medicare benefits approved, your parent’s nursing home paid for when her Medicaid are application goes through, your child’s federal college loan processed I could go on. Do you want smart, honest, professional public servants who feel like they are devoting their careers to a worthy mission?
