A biased utility. Is that an existing area of law? Or something you are just making up now? I find it a biased utility that two electric companies on this list won't cover birth control for employees. http://time.com/4797792/donald-trump-birth-control-companies/ |
Same. Most of the pics were related to this topic, and then there were a lot of other pics unrelated. |
I look forward to Google and Facebook being nationalized as the public utilities they have become.
They've outgrown being owned as private companies. Now it's time for them to be owned by the people. |
What public utilities are owned by the people? Airports and train stations are all I can think of. There is a simpler answer to the problem. Stop using them! Young people don't even use Facebook, and you can instantly choose a non-google search engine whenever you want. |
For the technology-disabled: https://www.google.com/search?q=idiot&tbm=isch |
So you want socialism, then, right? High taxes.. all utility companies owned by the government? |
The station may be (some are, some aren’t), but Amtrak isn’t. An airport may be, but Delta isn’t. The only people that “own” private companies are the founders, employees in a coop, and shareholders. Those are the only people they try to please. |
Says someone who doesn’t understand algorithms. Stick to trying to balance your checkbook. |
Let's say this is true (it's not but just for the sake of argument), you know that Google is not the only search engine, right? Or bet yet, start your own search engine. I'm sure your's will be so much more unbiased (snort). BTW, I searched "idiot" in bing, and do you know whose face showed up... yep, Trump (and others). |
Sorry, I was addressing the ^^PP who thinks Google search algorithms are written by the Wizard of Oz. |
Why was Pichai praised on his return for evading the questions effectively? |
Was he? I don't know, but Trumpsters sure praise Trump when he lies. Pichai is a CEO of a company. Trump, unfortunately, is POTUS. Who do you think has the bigger responsibility to being honest? |
I'd say the analogy is accurate enough. Google tweeks their algorithm to support certain results. If they didn't no one would be attempting search engine optimization. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Search_engine_optimization |
Likewise the google gorilla problem. https://www.wired.com/story/when-it-comes-to-gorillas-google-photos-remains-blind/ |

One person watching closely was Gabriel Weinberg, co-founder and CEO DuckDuckGo – a privacy-focused search engine company that competes with Google Search and last week, revealed a study of its own (not referenced by Rep. Smith). The study, among other things, found that participants saw vast differences in search results when searching for the same keywords (like “gun control” or “immigration”) from different locations across the country. The study controlled for other potential factors of personalisation by having its participants log out of their Google accounts and search from an incognito state. “What [our study] does reveal, or at least suggests, is that Google’s collection and use of personal data, including location, which is then used to filter specific search results, is having an effect akin to the effects of a political bias,” Weinberg told Business Insider on Tuesday. “That is an important nuance often missed in these discussions.?” Essentially, Weinberg is saying that even if Google does not create its products with the intent of having a political bias, the fact that location information is used to filter results creates its own form of bias. |
