LOL my thoughts exactly. I clicked that link and literally laughed out loud. |
| The static buildup on these things is unreal. Turn the lights off and watch the sparks fly. |
lol. My mother grew up in a shack on the border. Too poor? I can play that game if you want. |
| I strongly dislike those blankets. Yes, they feel nice to the touch but I prefer natural fibers. Too much static and they wreak havoc on my hair. Plus I always end up overheated and sweaty. |
Aren’t some of these synthetic fiber things made from recycled plastics? I love Berkshire Blankets and get them from Homegoods https://berkshireblanket.com/collections/extra-fluffy-fabric |
I never have that problem. Maybe check the humidity levels in your house in winter. |
You are all insufferable. I have quilts and knits too original pp. That doesn't mean you can't enjoy a big plush blanket. I have a hand sewn quilt from Grammy, a blanket I knit for dd and blanket from Costco on my sofa. If a person didn't happen to have such heirlooms that says nothing bad about them. If they happen to have both that says nothing bad about them. Poor people can knit. Let people own the blankets they have and want jesus. Everything on dcum turns into a class war. |

| Y'all, we bought PLUSH ELECTRIC BLANKETS. I can barely leave my bed. |
| I've never been really comfortable with electric current right next to my body. I like space heaters and old quilts, but I'm glad you are cozy, PP. |
| Plush blankets are made from plastic. You are basically wearing a glorified trash bag lol. But, hey they are glorious at first, not so much after washing. What I like about them is that they are disposable and cheap enough to enjoy them get rid of without guilt after the next new thing comes out. Although my favorite blanket right now is an extremely fine down filled plush that wasn’t cheap. Eventually, I will go back to having at least one natural material blanket available as I like the other textures as well. |

I got some Sew Lush Fleece fabric from Joann's. And I didn't need to sew the edge. So much cheaper than buying a blanket. Right now it's $8.99 a yard (57" wide). We always struggled getting a blanket large enough for DH and I to snuggle under together on the couch. I bought 3 yards (so almost 9ft x 5 ft) for less than $30.
Our cats loved the blanket so much, I had to go buy them their own. PS- if it's not on sale, download the Joann's app. They have crazy good coupons on there. |

I'm descended from a long line of accomplishrd Pennsylvania Dutch quilters and own several hand stitched antique quilts...and I still love my minky blankets. The more covers to choose from, the better.

And I've washed them several times. No pilling, no static. |
