a Honda or Toyota will last 15 years easy. and your kids are getting bigger and will need more space. My sister's Sienna is 15 years old with 240,000 miles.

Please don't buy into the Toyota or Honda myth. Don't buy these cars. My Toyota is a money pit at just 120k miles. I would never buy one again. These cars are full of cheap and unreliable parts.

NO. SUBARU. NO.

Of course every manufacturer has a few lemons. Not every single Toyota or Honda is going to be perfect but by and large, they are much more reliable than other manufacturers. Subaru is extremely unreliable unless you don't mind paying $2,000 about every 100k miles to fix the head gaskets. Horrible cars. I had one, will never get one again.

I wish more companies made AWD cars, because it does make me nervous to have large repair bills in the future but I don’t want an SUV

I would never buy another Subaru because of the head gasket problems but I loved the AWD. I was able to drive around in snowy conditions when other people were stuck. You can tell when the AWD is getting through icy spots because it sounds different. The thing is....in this area there really aren't enough snow storms to make you need an AWD vehicle. You can just not go out while the roads are bad. It's usually just a couple days a year. It also adds something like 1,000 pounds to the vehicle weight.

Yeah, I just bought one as we plan to move back to a state where it can snow 9 months out of the year

To the OP, how many miles a year are you driving? 150k miles on a 5 year old car seems rather excessive.

I think the same thing, 30k miles a year is a lot of miles. That's 2,500 miles a month. That seems unusually high.

I have a 2013 flex as well. Don’t know about yours but mine is frighteningly bad in snow and ice. I plan to trade it in for about $10k, (I have 80k miles) and get a late model Pilot. Does your car have any trade in value?
