Name the luckiest thing that's ever happened to you

Was miserable at work but thought there was no way out. I didn’t have the courage to make changes, I was just too comfortable. But after a bad day and on a whim, I did some research on my Dream Company. Found out they were hosting a job fair at a hotel in my area, THE FOLLOWING DAY.

The following day I kicked ass at the interview, was asked to stick around for the second and third interviews, and landed the job! I’ll never ever forget the way I felt as I left that interview; it was so blissfully surreal and one of the happiest moments of my life.

I’m so lucky I had that crappy day, because it turned into one of the best days of my life!

I was 9 years old. Lived in southern California suburbs. I had to walk across a major 4-lane intersection walking home from school. There was a crossing guard but she was on the other side of the street at the time. The light turned green, the signal said walk, the crossing guard held up her stop sign and started to step into the street. I took one step into the street when out of nowhere (to my 9 year old unobservant kid brain at least) a truck barreled right in front of me and turned right. The tire hit my shoe a little. I fell backward and just ended up sitting on the curb.
The crossing guard was my stepmom.

A friend of mine was supposed to be on one of the flights that hit the World Trade Center. He is Sikh and wears a turban. Not only did he survive but he always said he knew people would have somehow thought he was involved. Unbelievable.

I'm listening to his autobiography right now, I recommend

Met the love of my life at a bar I only went to because my regular bar was dead. She hadn't planned on being out that night and was alone. I never pickup women at the bar but somehow got the courage to talk to her. I didn't ask for her number at the end of the night, but she said was way smarter than me and said this is where you ask for my number. Texted her that night, called her the next day and started the greatest romance of my life.

Ditto. He was young good looking, no baggage, hardworking, kind and at an Ivy League law school. Best Luck Ever.

Meeting my wonderful dh at age 20. Sounds cheesy, but without him we wouldn’t have a family, he’s so calm to my anxious, he’s smart and hard working. Knows how to invest. I had a crappy childhood and meeting him changed the direction of my life.

Found $100 in cash in the doorway of a bar in a college town. Picked that up and went inside and met Andre Aggassi who happened to be in town.

Was on a White House tour with a women's group and I was dawdling. Stopped for a minute to speak with one of the guards who smiled and told me to go outside. Obama was headed for the chopper and I waved him off!

But the luckiest thing was when was 17 years old, my car broke down on a major highway late a night and a van of friendly people picked me up and took me to the next gas station where my Mom picked me up. This was before cell phones. Dodged a bullet.

Do you think she was trying to have you killed off?

Being born to parents who loved me and acted like it. No chance of bad self-esteem in my family.

My family thus far.

Notable family (not money but prestige). Wonderful, loving parents. Siblings who have always had my back. Soulmate husband who is beloved of my family too. Nice supportive inlaws. Great SILs, BILs, nephews and nieces - both side of family. Loving, moral, healthy, intelligent children.

Former 9 year old here. Oh goodness no! She was frantic. Way more freaked out than I was.

Adopted healthy newborn with minimal wait time.

Long, crazy story....but suffice it to say that a lot of luck helped me get into my first choice university (BY FAR.)

I am a teacher, and we (class) were walking on the sidewalk.... and literally out of nowhere a flaming fire intercepted our line and veered through the only gap between children. Everyone sage. Literally out of a movie.

On a trivial note, DD and I got the last 2 Grinch tickets at the theater.

I have had my share of working in intolerable work situations but somehow always came out ahead at the next job, and always found employment easily.
