I don't think Kate looks awkward. She's holding the hand of and smiling at her 3 year old. It's not a time to ignore a kid, who could have a meltdown on camera, and catch up with family. The second pic is a bit awkward, but show me a couple who hasn't done that to whisper something about what one of their kids were doing.

Really - Wills is 'ignoring' George just fine. Teach kids manners and they won't throw a fit in public.

Kate's kids behave better than 99% of kids anywhere.

Perhaps she and her nannies can help teach you manners?

When Camilla doesn’t smile, she looks severe. Yes, she looks like she’s sucking a lemon but probably nothing to do with Kate. Maybe her spanx are too tight.

Honestly when you’re photographed as much as the royals are you’re going to end up with some unflattering ones.

I don't know, hard to say what's going on there. I have never gotten the impression that Kate and Camilla hang out together. There appears to be a distant but cordial relationship which makes me think that there probably aren't any high emotions directed at each other.

The point is, that they don't have much of a personal relationship with each other so they aren't likely to feel anything that much about each other. It's a cordial, business relationship. They aren't hanging out on the patio sipping wine and sharing "Charles and Will" stories.

With all the official photos and engagements they all attend you can about bet that Charles will be seeing his grandchildren. He doesn't strike me as a warm, fuzzy grandpa type but who knows?

I can’t judge until I see a video of the same scene.

Until then, I’m chalking it up to the somber manner of the event. Because it almost looks like they’re making eye contact, when you’d say “hello,” and smile. But they’re holding back because they’re not supposed to smile or converse at that moment. Queen is right there; therefore NO breaking protocol.
