Let me ask: okay, any Christians have a problem with this Jew getting a pine tree and putting lights on it?

As in around December and placing said tree within your house? Yep, sure do.

No, not at all. I don't see a problem with Jewish families having an evergreen tree in their house for the holidays. I actually love the idea! Christmas is about love, family, and celebration. If a Jewish family wants a tree, then that is their business. I'm Catholic and I put up Hanukah decorations in my house.

Sending peace, love, & joy your way! Have fun with your family and enjoy your tree. Don't listen to the haters.

Christian here - Christmas has nothing to do with Jesus and Christianity. It is an ancient Roman holiday called Saturnalia that the medieval church merged into its celebrations because people needed some cheer during long and dark winter months.
As a Christian I have nothing to do with commercial Christmas or Christmas at all but recognize that it brings joy to many people.
Now, when it comes to Passover time and Jesus's resurrection, I strictly follow those observances.

I'm with you.

Exactly! Historians believe Jesus wasn’t even born in the winter months. So really we’re all celebrating some combination of Saturnalia with pagan and Christian traditions thrown in. If someone wants a tree with lights and ornaments, who cares?

So WASPs get yelled out for culturally appropriating anything, anytime ever...but Jews can go ahead and appropriate a part of a religious holiday they don't celebrate, and it's all good?

Got it.

Appropriating and assimilating are two different things.

THIS

You don't get to decide what other people call their decorations.

Exactly. If I want to put a tree in my house in December and put crap on it, you don’t get to say I can’t call it a holiday tree or a cookie tree or whatever the heck else. It’s my tree dammit!

Christian here. Anyone can have and enjoy a Christmas/Holiday Tree!

Go for it! Kids love them and they smell lovely. Enjoy! You have my blessing!

18:52 here

Bear in mind that you'd be engaging in pagan practices with Christmas tree.

Jew here. If y’all want to have a menorah too, go for it! I recognize they’re not as fun, but just wanted to make sure we have it on the record.
