OP, my house is 102 years old with original stained & varnished woodwork in every room. I love it and would not change it for anything. But- your house has to be to your own taste. I did not watch the link posted, have no firm opinion on staining vs painting other than my own biased one from my own house. ![]() |
My parents did this to the house i grew up in and it nearly made me cry, covering up that beautiful wood. New trim is fine to paint because the wood isn’t anywhere near the quality of what was used in houses 100 year ago for trim. Sigh. |
Just realize that if you paint the woodwork you’ll have to keep painting it when it starts chipping and getting dingy. |
