| Can anyone find a link to the most recent report of CFC’s administrative costs? I need to be ready for the annoying key worker. |

Don't take it out on the CFC rep. They don't usually volunteer for the job -- they are given it as an extra duty. |

And this:
https://www.marinecorpstimes.com/pay-benefits/mil-money/2017/10/04/2017-cfc-kicks-off-with-new-fee-setup-fewer-charities-and-delays/ There are fees associated with running the CFC (as there would be with any fundraising campaign) and then there are fees that go to the next level (federations). Those would be in addition to the 10% mentioned in the CFC Q&A (Prior Post). "Federations will no longer be allowed to deduct a percentage from their members’ CFC donations to cover their costs. Instead, they will have to bill their member charities separately. The idea with this change (as well as paying campaign costs through fees rather than through deductions from donations) is that the CFC will be able to tell donors that all or nearly all their money goes to the charities, not to pay the CFC’s overhead costs. Federations will also be required to distribute donations to member charities every three months. Most federations already do this. I agree with this and feel the same about being asked to donate at the grocery store ("care to round up your purchase to the nearest dollar and give to XYZ Charity?") I feel like it's a way for the store or company to donate to charity and get the tax implications of doing so without actually footing their own money. If I donate to charity, I'm going to claim it on my own taxes, not let my company or my grocery store take that for themselves. |

And This:
CFC overhead in 2017 was 16.5% https://www.wg-alliance.org/wga-blog/pledges-in-2017-cfc-drop-nearly-40-percent |

Wow, I have always given to CFC since starting as a fed almost 10 years ago and have made it a point to increase my donation every year even when money felt tight. I love that it comes out little by little so you don't feel it. I figured there was a little overhead and even though I always do my research on charities on Charity Navigator, I never looked into the overhead. Overhead of 16% is too much - I could be giving so much more to charity! I am thinking I won't do CFC this year, but need to hold myself accountable to keep giving.
I don't like the solicitation by coworkers because it's awkward, but I do like it setting the tone that charitable giving is good. I have no problem with them running the program in years we don't get COL raises. I feel like I'm paid well enough to give to others who are less fortunate. |
Many charities will let you sign up for a monthly donation through their websites. I put mine on my credit card (paying it off each month) and then I get 2% back on everything I donate! Another option would be to set up a special bank account you only use for donations and have a portion of your salary direct deposited to it each month. |
| They both bug me. I hate being solicited, especially at work. I think it's silly that feds feeds families is done by weight because people just buy a bunch of crap from the dollar store to fill up the boxes, and then the poor person in charge has to haul it all away. |
| I find corporate or fed charitable coercion to be obnoxious. We have a pretty fixed amount that we can contribute but I want to make my own decisions, not have my arm twisted or be given a "demerit". |
| I refuse to donate to either. I think they have a lot nerve asking non-stop for charity when we are not getting a raise and they keep increasing our portion of our benefits. |
| PP I agree, I am also not taking time off to go donate blood so my boss gets credit, I will do it on my own time. |
Whoa. I had no idea that there was any over head at all. I am going to give directly to charities this year. |
donate blood! You are entitled to 4 hrs admin time (time off) when you donate! |
