Travel A team and medical personnel

I simply do not believe this is real. No way. Not even in the DC area.

My kid has been on teams with a variety of doctors, nurses etc. Having doctors on the sideline in this area is not uncommon at all, it is the expectation that they are on the sidelines that is hilarious. And a neurologist to boot. It is not enough to have a general practitioner, who could serve a far greater variety of needs. Noooo, the OP expects a specialist.

This is the most DCUM post ever.

I think it has to be a troll post. What capped it for me was "at least" a neurologist. At that point, you've jumped the concussive shark, as it were.

Nah, in this area I might think it is a troll post if they were asking if any clubs provide on sight trauma wards.

The is the best post I've seen on this forum in a long time.

OP, your wife should also hand out copies of her malpractice insurance so all the lawyer parents on the sidelines can evaluate its adequacy.

Basically no travel team will be able to afford a full time person so you're looking for a neighborhood that might have doctors as parents, more than likely. Somewhere in NW DC or Bethesda area (NIH, Walter Reed, etc) might have a higher percentage of doctor soccer parents than others, but there really is no way to find this without aksing parent by parent what they do for a living, basically.

Could you imagine how much more we would all have to pay per year to have a doctor linked with the team?!?!!!!

Sadly, because it is the DC area, I do believe it.

I grew up in the burbs now living in a rich urban part of the area, the parents at school
And in youth sports never cease to amaze me.

This has nothing to do with the DC area - OP and his crazy Dr. wife come from the Midwest! The sainted, fetishized Midwest, where everyone is smarter, nicer, and has better work-life balance. Just look here - in the Midwest, a trained neurosurgeon had the flexibility to attend soccer games - and practices! - for two separate ravel teams, but here, she has to be at work!

Yeah, it's fake. Funny, but fake.

So the kids in the lower caste don’t need the neurologist ? It’s just for the elite A team-ha!

Well done OP and welcome to dcurbanmom.

Please have your wife post her perspective.

I am also particularly interested in which Big 3 your children are attending and/or which country club you are planning to join.

No, no, no. At least a neurologist. At. Least.

(Presumably, preferably a neurosurgeon with his or her scrub team, but we make do when needs must.)

It's all in the OP.

No, should be a pediatric neurologist.

With 20 years of experience in soccer concussion.

Everyone knows that at the younger ages, the B team are the athletic kids with the brains.

So the B, C, D, teams and those playing in ODSL or SFL don't need the same?

I don't think it's that far fetched. One travel game DC played in Manassas last fall had tents with trained medical staff in case anyone had a medical issue, including spotting concussions. I thought it was a fantastic idea and more clubs should offer it.
