Ashburton Elementary (located in a neighborhood of modest SFL houses and feeding to WJ) has been between two to three HUNDRED students over capacity EVERY YEAR from very soon after the new addition was added in 2008-9 (where capacity was increased about 200 students). Planners told concerned parents that the neighborhoods turning over were causing the problem yet every year it was the same thing and yet more development projects were approved, most recently about 350 new units by the mall and 350 in the WMAL radio tower property. Ashburton now has a permanent modular (re: fancy name for more portable) system, and still is over 100 seats short.
