No one is leasing Toyotas, Hondas or Subarus??? Where are you getting that idea? |
No it hasn't. My friend is a car dealer. For instance I bought a car three years old off lease at auction. It was eligible for the CPO. All that means is one owner no accident. Car came with a four year factory warranty. If they CPO it would have been 3K more. Instead I paid 75 bucks to dealership, did a front to back inspection and they fixed anything under warranty. I then shopped around as you can buy a factory warranty any dealership in USA, found a good priced one in Midwest, no sales tax and got a five year warranty from factory for 900 bucks. You just punch CPO in the system and poop CPO, no checks dealership did anything. Other catch is only the same make and model can CPO a car. I bought a used Caddilac at a GM dealer 4k original miles from a CHEVY dealer, could not be CPO as a Chevy dealer, got it for a few grand less. Great car. It is just a marketing tool |
They're regular cars for regular people. Leasing is for show offs and people who live above their means. Regular cars don't appeal to them. |
| Interesting thread and I always find it interesting when people based their judgments on their own experience. Most cars coming off lease 2-3 years old 36k are going to be just fine for years, whether CPO or not. There will be problems in both groups to be sure but I don't think there is any reason to think the CPO cars are in better condition, even if they go through a 300 point check (one of the points is probably windshield wipers, not really a basis to distinguish a car). But you get a better warranty, maybe some service and perhaps peace of mind and if you are willing to pay for that, go for it. My own experience is buying a handful of cars coming off lease and never having a problem and never looked at CP"Os. |
