Have you looked at SN schools? |
+1 Many mainstream private schools like Norwood require the WIPPSI (IQ test) and a playdate/visit where the school gets to observe how your child interacts with peers as part of the admissions process. So it isn't just what the parent thinks is the best fit. |
No, child does very well in school. |
Then maybe an IEP isn't worthwhile if you deem it so worthless? |
| Keep visiting the schools. Norwood and Green Acres are very different. Look at classes in the other grades. Most K classes look and feel the same. You see the difference as the grades progress. |
We dropped it for this year. Private for us was very worthwhile. |
| Grace Episcopal has very small classes and they focus on project based learning. The teachers are wonderful as are the students and families. It is a very welcoming community. |
We called and they were not very language concern friendly when I spoke to them. Most schools are project based learning which isn't best for all kids. |
| What is project based learning? We are at Grace and they do many project related assignments. We love the school. There are kids with speech issues there. |
| What about applying for a COSA to a nearby public focus school, where class sizes are capped in lower grades? You aren’t far from Oakland Terrace and Flora Singer. My kids go to FS and i know several kids with a speech iep and SLPs are onsite. Strong special needs involvement by parents. |
Not our experience at all. |
