Please take Netflix food documentaries with a grain of salt. They are trying to push their own narrative/agenda

I have to say I am very suspect of nutritionists as they have been in line with the government low fat high carb food recommendations that have ushered in the age of obesity and diabetes. I do not trust the food industry or pharma as they lobby hard and are in the business of selling products.

We do fresh fruit and vegetables, meat, cheeses and nuts, eat at home and cook from scratch mostly. Minimally processed in that I buy ingredients I put together for the final dish. We eat grains (brown rice, quinoa, polenta) and even potatoes, not a lot of bread but our kids eat more than we do. We are not afraid of fats. We eat very little sugar.

My DH was diagnosed with diabetes, he chose not to take medications (that put you on the road to lifelong medications and a progressively worsening disease) and we moved to the above diet. We (the adults) also do some intermittent fasting. My DH’s blood sugar levels are now completely normal and he has shocked his doctor and nutritionist who did not think this was a good approach.

Why do your kids have a cardiologist?

Not PP but I have a kid with a major congenital heart defect so my kids both see one.
