I'd tell her that my DH does his own laundry but I would mention it to him.

My MIL comes over almost every week and does our laundry and irons my husbands shirts! Problem solved though she can drive me nuts.

I guess as a one-off I would.

She's not putting you down, she's saying her son irons his clothes like krap. She probably agrees that he should continue to do his own ironing, but for this "upcoming trip" event don't let him!

maybe Ma should teach sonny boy how to iron better. Push down with pressure, get it nice and hot, lay the clothes on the board well, etc.

What's this upcoming trip MIL is so worried about? Sounds like it will be fun and MIL will be out to impress!

Some new non-iron shirts may be in order...
