I previously thought this way. But when you’re a high profile public servant, these extra curricular activities open up potential for blackmail, revealing stats secrets, corruption, etc.

I feel bad for the FBI that one of their main jobs is to try to keep the country safe from the consequences of elected officials engaging in risky behavior. They can’t criticize such officials or publicize such behavior; they must merely sit by and clean up the fall out, hoping that the voters have the good sense to remove such clowns from office.
