How many days a year is your daycare/preschool closed?

Early release on Good Friday and one other day I forget
Follows the Federal snow closing and delays

Fed offices have just done away with those. I received an email last week stating that there will no longer be closings for weather or delays. We are all expected to be telework ready in case of inclement weather. Large cabinet level Department.

It depends on the office/agency. In DHs case, everyone that is "telework ready/eligible" is expected to telework that day if OPM closes. However, having to provide childcare makes you ineligible for telework so if OPM says stay home and telework and our daycare closes, then DH doesn't have to telework because he needs to provide childcare so he gets the day.

No. The new notice last week that came out specifically said if you need childcare, you must take annual leave. Childcare is not an exemption anymore. So if there's a blizzard, it really impacts families of small children.

Oh boohoo. This is pretty normal in the real world. I can't believe any Fed is going to complain about this - you have NO idea how good you have it.

This is a private daycare/preschool in NYC for comparison

Follows an academic year schedule, so opens in September, closes in June (you can pay extra for summer school which runs until mid August).

Closes for Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur, Columbus Day, MLK day, President's Day, Memorial Day and various teacher development and p/t conference days.
Closes for Thanksgiving break, Winter break (two weeks) and Spring break (one week).

LOTS of days off.
