Choose whoever has the shortest wait time. KKI does it, but they also have a long wait time. Another option is Mount Washington Pediatric Hospital. George Washington University is starting a new autism clinic, but it's not clear from the website if it is actually open yet.

When we were searching, Kennedy Kriejer and Inova Keller were the ones with the shortest waiting time. I also heard about Mount Washington was easier to an appointment with. When I called them, the personnel answering the phones were very helpful. I recommend putting your name on all the waiting lists and see which one has the first available appointment. Children's Intake process was frustrating because they make you fill out a large packet of paperwork, and then you wait for months before they contact you for an appointment. Inova Keller and Kennedy Kriejer was easier. They put you on the waiting list, when they call you to set up an appointment, they will provide all the intake forms at that time.

How different are these institutions when they assess for ADHD evaluation with autism? I was able to send out Children's paperwork and waiting on others to hear back.

Yeah I may have been off. Totally ridiculous either way. I waited for 9 months for children's National for the same evaluation. Cost me $50 with insurance and got the exact same testing done.

Will it be same as visiting a Psychologist that are in network vs visiting these big institutions for an evaluations. Mount Washington staff says they need 3 appointments fist one is an hour, second one is for evaluation (3-4) and last one is for the report. Is it a good idea to go for a local in-network psychologist for an evaluation? please comment.

Our neuropsych at a private provider involved an initial parent meeting, two half-days of testing and a followup parent meeting. Few private neuropsychologists take insurance, probably none with good reputations. If you need to stay in network, I'd stick with Mount Washington.
