Parents of HS students who will be college freshman this fall

Anonymous
My oldest child is starting college in the fall, and I've found the most helpful information on a facebook page specifically for parents of incoming freshman at his university. The facebook page is administered by someone at the university, and they post lots of helpful information. Also, we (parents) are able to post questions and they are really good about answering them. Maybe see if your kid's university has something similar?

DD will be a freshman in the fall. We haven’t done anything other than write a deposit check and reserve a hotel for move in day. The rest is up to her to sort out. She’s a bright, capable young adult and will be on her own in three months so it’s good for her to get used to solving her own problems.

Well aren't you lucky. I know that sounds snarky but I mean it, you are lucky. I don't think most 17/18 year olds are doing the entire process independently. -mom of 18 year old boy.
