Tell me about the white Party at glen echo tomorrow night?

Black people popularized "white parties" in the 1990s:

Not a racial thing. It's caught on in the white community now. ?

~a white person from the south, who is familiar with black friends and neighbors who attend all-white dress parties.

Yeah, let’s get real. How many people of color will there be?

I think the PP who alluded to dinner was thinking of the Dîner en Blanc, which is a different event entirely.

Regardless of the history of white parties that people seem to think justifies it now, the organizers should seriously consider renaming it.

Totally agree. Call it the White Fest, or White Activity. The word "party" is so politically charged. And how can some people party with so much injustice in the world? Resist!

My daughter in 7th grader was scared out of her mind. People were getting drunk (note that these were 7th-8th graders) throwing up all over each other and even passed out. Someone passed out within the first 3 minutes (because she got drunk) and was escorted away by the police and ambulance. So many people were drunk (she said that she would pass by people who were like “Sit down you’re drunk!”) and she saw people put drugs in the jugs of water and food. The parent chaperones didn’t care about anything and someone got arrested for throwing a stink bomb in the dance floor. A waste of money and time, NEVER SEND YOUR KIDS HERE.

Seriously? What on earth???
Are you saying kids were drinking at the event, or that someone put drugs in the food and water and that's what made everyone sick? Or both?

Don't feed the troll.

No- they were not drinking there and that is a rumor about the water. Kids seemed to have snuck drinks before---not at the party.

Give me a break. My kid was there and was there last year and its a perfectly nice party if you are smart enough to stay away from the few crazy kids.

There were no drugs or drinking there. Some kids did come drunk but that is on their parents not on the chaperones. There was a stink bomb set off but it wasn't that big of a deal.

I agree completely. Why do things always get so out of reality? I am a teacher and mother who dropped her daughter off. That is on the parents who dropped the kids off that were drunk-- not the party. As my husband said, there were 95% of kids there who were great.

I can't believe you are both okay with your 12 and 13 year olds at a party with drunk 7th and 8th graders. And yes, I know from texts that came into my DS's phone from the party that what the PPs are saying is true: it was a mess.
