Eid Party for friends and neighbors- would you come?

If you can cook, I'm in! Seriously, most people would enjoy learning about your traditions.

I'm Jewish, and I would definitely go. I love learning about other cultures and religions.

They had the most scrumptious spread and they were the most cultured, educated and elegant hosts. Its about time the Western world realizes how enlightened, advanced, secular, egalitarian and culturally advanced the educated Muslims in Indian subcontinent and Iran are. Unfortunately, till date this voice is suppressed and what you see are the most uneducated and barbaric representation of the Muslim world. Akin to what you see in USA. The educated thinkers are suppressed and the most base and ill-educated men are ruling this place. This is the current state of the world. The most primitive and barbaric and right wing people are ruling the world. Perhaps this is the time for WWIII?

I was going to invite friends, neighbors, kids friends and families to an open house style party with some activities for the kids (Moon Bounce, balloon twister, maybe a pony). Obviously many attending don’t celebrate Eid, but it’s a time to celebrate with friends. Would you be offended? Would you attend if invited to such an invite by your kid’s friend? The invite would probably explain Eid, but not intending to have any religious overtures at the party.

of course

sounds fun

What's on the menu?

I don’t see anything in the post claiming the OP must be Indian.

We invited lots of our "regular" friends to our Big Ethnic Wedding. We had a little insert in the wedding program that explained the things that occurred and their significance. Our friends had a great time and also learned a little something about our culture.

As a mom, I would love it if my kids had an awesome time but maybe also learned a little something about your culture, Ramadan, Islam, etc. Is there something that you could do that taught them something, not in a heavy-handed way? A craft or some coloring pages maybe?

I would think that would kind of ruin the party. It is not a birthday party, but neighbors and all of them party, if many kids show up no need to come up with crafts, they would play around the yard and in the street and have a ball.... Organizing Eid dinner is so much work, if I was hosting I would not be adding to my plate. Sometimes party needs to be just a party.

Do you know what Biryani and Seviyaan is? If you did you’d know it was food from the sub-continent.
