U of Chicago....The waitlist is going to open up!

Chicago is all backbiting insufferable jerks who exaggerate the The College's "intellectualism" in an attempt to rationalize their self-doubt and unhappiness. Was it all worth it, they ask themselves? Unless you leave with a spouse (<5% chance), no, it absolutely wasn't worth it.

Definitely visit and if the vibe is something you don't like, don't go!! Just don't listen to disgruntled rejects whose anger and jealousy is driving them to make asinine comments about the school.
With a yield of close to 75%, trust me they don't care if you turn them down. Hundreds are waiting to claim that spot. In all probability they are going to over enroll this year too, so for the sake of other students, if you are in doubt, don't go!! Just don't sit on the decision. Make up your mind as soon as you can.

75% yield because 60% of their class is filled with ED 100% yield students

The RD yield is probably no higher than 50%

I did leave with a spouse and claim those years as some of the best years of my life. Different perspective perhaps...

Honest question: What motivates you to write such mean things?

He got rejected and his anger and frustration is boiling over

I think the bottom line wrt UChicago is that if your kid visits and likes it, ignore the naysayers (who typically have out-of-date impressions and/or different values). If your kid visits and says these people are weird, let your kid go elsewhere. No reason everyone has to agree or want the same thing.

Sorry facts make you uncomfortable.

It's not an eclectic geeky thinker college, Chicago students get off on who can be the most abrasive, pushy and busiest (for no reason other than to brag they're busy/miserable).

Every college you listed is far more prestigious, far more fun, better location, with far more attractive and happier student body. Of course Chicago architecture is amazing. But the student body is mostly neurotic pretentious crackpots jousting for who's the most sleep deprived, miserable and weirdest.

That's certainly true for the business school grads from there that I've encountered in DC. Most insecure, miserable, (and usually burned out!) grasping, strivers I've ever seen. (I work with 3 and my BIL is one also.) It's sad.

Let’s see, should we encourage our DCs to assess campus atmosphere based on the experiences of (or their interactions with) current undergrads or based on some random but obviously nasty 40+ year old’s perception of alumni from the same university’s business school?

Welcome. You are now part of the "Club of Morons on DCUM".

Booth is the #1 rated business school in the world and Corporate recruiters give the highest grade also. Which just proves you are a grasping striver with zero credibility.
