Are Uber vehicles safer than yellow cabs?

I use Uber and Lyft a lot. They are generally much nicer than cabs. If the Uber car is a piece of crap you give the driver a low rating and say why. Not easy to do what a cab unless you call in with a complaint. But, you can always get a lemon.
