Buying a new car

There’s still a lot of room to negotiate. Find out if there are dealer holdbacks. We thought we had a rock bottom price after starting with the supposedly low Internet price and then playing one dealer off another until we were thousands below that. We then found out about the holdback plus a dealer incentive if we financed, so we went back to the dealers with that knowledge and we’re able to use that to take off another 1500k. We didn’t stop until all 5 dealers said they couldn’t beat the price. We were looking at a car that was stickered around 47k so there was a hefty markup. We learned the best way to compare prices was to ask for an itemized out the door price and stress we wanted no dealer add ons.

The business manager naturally tried to sell us on all sorts of things but we declined them all. Do NOT feel you need to buy an extended service plan from the dealer. You can shop around to other dealers. Our dealers best price was over a thousand higher than one we found elsewhere.
