By the way, my neighbor with a PhD from Maryland homeschools. So piss off.

Op here. And I have a PhD in statistics from a Georgia tech. Can you stick to the topic. I asked about parents without college degrees.

Because they are stupid OP. It's really this simple.

I know I am not perfect myself but that's why I plan on sending my children to public or private school. Why do they homeschool? It seems so backwards. In my home country home schooling is not legal. We would see it as backwards.

I totally get that. I mean, in your country they eat dogs, and in this country we see it as backwards.

But, we also see your country as backwards because you're ignorant about the actual statistics of how homeschooler's fare academically and socially, while excelling in a particular extra-curricular activity.

I think it's the right thing you're doing sending your kid to private school in FL (not public). We don't need more uneducated South American youth. Thanks for that!

I'm a PP, but not this PP.
This is hilarious! Thank you for showing those foreigners just how ignorant they are. You should totally homeschool!

Why does it matter? Basic elementary concepts are NOT difficult to teach a child.

Now, high school you have a point but I know very few high school homeschool families where the kids are only taught by the parent. Usually people do a homeschool co-op, kids take classes at the local CC, online schooling..

It should absolutely matter. I feel so bad for these poor children.

Huh. Homeschoolers outperform their public school counterparts on pretty much every single objective measure of academic achievement. Even when their parents don’t have a college degree.

Maybe feel bad for the public school kids? The high school to which I am zoned only had 3% of its students in grade level. I feel so bad for these poor children.

Why?

Why aren't home-educated children held to the same minimum standards as public school students? I'm European and it's illegal in almost all European countries. This is absurd.

That’s your problem. Objectively, homeschoolers do very well. Homeschooling is legal, it works well for a million or two families, and there’s absolutely nothing you can do about it except argue points that have already been argued. That doesn’t change anything. Homeschooling is a growing educational movement; it’s part of life. We’re not going anywhere.

Yep. Before you get too into the faux outrage, take a look at the actual statistics. Public schools stack up pretty atrociously when compared to homeschooling.

They should have a bachelors degree at minimum. I agree with you OP.

Many are and surpass the standard. Do your research.
