RIFs at your school? Janney, Shepherd, Stoddert, others?

If the goal of this RIF is to remove dead wood teachers from classrooms, I would like to hear one example of that being done. Of course, the personnel actions aren't scheduled to take place until tomorrow, but so far on this thread, the only classroom teacher being RIFed is Langdon preK, where two classes of 10 are being combined to 1 class of 20.

Other than that, it seems like principals are trying their best not to RIF classroom teachers, but to decrease budgets for supplies, computers, furniture.

What type of positions did the the 3 non-classroom teachers have at Mann?

Anyone have an example of a classroom teacher RIF?

I'm sorry, but this is an absolutely inexcusable way to remove the "dead wood" teachers from classrooms. And to say that this is not affecting instruction is complete BS. When your kid's teacher is removed from the building under the watchful eyes of the metropolitan police department, that's disruptive! When kid's are downtown protesting the layoffs, that's disruptive! The whole purpose of the early registration process was to determine and budget for staffing needs for the coming school year. Schools at full capacity still suffered staffing cuts. I don't care that the principal at Lafayette knows the system and therefore made other decisions. It looks suspicious that Fenty's kids were not affected by the cuts. There is no institutional credibility or trust here.

That can't be re-stated often enough. I notice it's very easy for people without children to support Rhee - they don't have to care about collateral damage. Had Rhee done anything to earn credibility and deserve trust I'd be a little more patient and understanding - but not when it's my children on the line and she's answerable to no-one. No thank you! We're at a top charter now, and we're never looking back! It's such a relief to know we're insulated from her capricious decisions.

as a charter parent, i wonder how insulated we are. it seems that she and fenty play dirty pool and we know that the charter's are a threat to their goals for DCPS. it makes me very, very nervous.

What exactly are their goals for DCPS?
